permacultureville

In The Food Game, John Robb suggests taking the farmville approach and applying it to permaculture as a teaching method. Awesome.

and then she started a blog...

Since I was "hippy-napped" away to the Bullocks Permaculture Farm on Orcas Island, WA, I've been entranced by the combined ideas of living a sustainable lifestyle and a community surrounded by (healthy) delicious food. My romanticism of French and Italian lifestyles derived from their obsession with food that personifies their society. And my exploration of enjoying forgotten food rituals - baking bread, canning asian pears - made me yearn for a slower, more positive food culture in the USA. I'm no confederate-flag-on-the-porch-American, nor am I a move-to-France-resent-my-country-American. I love this big, young, inefficient, rich, ignorant, creative, frustrated, perky, vulnerable, free America because I see what it can do and where it can go. And I hope to build a more sustainable, locally agricultural, food-positive land. Who's with me?
